Nipigon District Memorial Hospital's Smoke Free Property

As of May 31, 2006 under the Smoke Free Ontario Act, smoking is prohibited in all enclosed workplaces and enclosed public spaces across Ontario.

Nipigon District Memorial Hospital is working diligently towards a smoke free property.

If you are a smoker, you are not permitted to smoke within 9 meters of any entrance to our facility.  Local public health units carry out inspections and investigate complaints in order to enforce the Act.  Any individual convicted of an offence under the section of the Act that protects the rights of employees could be subject to a maximum fine of $4,000.

If you are interested in quitting smoking, our nursing staff can provide you with helpful information including requesting smoking cessation aids from your physician.
